This blog is a short reflection on what it means to be a coach.

What It Means

I’ve been coaching for 7 + years and in that time, I’ve come a long way.

In the beginning I had next to no clue what I was doing (like everyone who embarks on a new path) and while I still have so much to learn, I sit here writing these words confident and convicted that I know what coaching is all about.

It’s NOT about the numbers; it’s about relationships.

It’s about taking the time to see, hear, understand and care for another human being.

From there, it’s about choose to walk by a person’s side on their unique journey (through the mess) toward their vision (and version) of a better life. It’s about being a great friend who creates space and leads with love while holding someone accountable, encouraging them through the hard times, guiding them toward what’s best and pulling them toward their best. It’s using our precious time, valuable effort, limited resources and unique skills to help another human bridge a gap; between here and there.

It’s about helping people pursue potential.

It’s been said that a good coach can change a game and that a great coach can change a life.

That’s the calling I’m chasing.

The impact, the relationships and the growth that comes with coaching keep me going. I’m so blessed to work with people who show up, trust the process and do the work even when it’s hard.
