I’ve been doing some thinking and wanted to share a few thoughts – I hope something resonates!

It’s Simple
Life is simple (not easy).
We make it complicated.
Insurance Policies
Excuses are like cheap insurance policies for potential future failure.
“I might not perform well because of X,Y and Z” gives us a reason to explain subpar performance.
Living in the world of “possibilities” is easier than living in a world of “realities.”
“I would be good at that if I tried” is easier than stepping into the arena and actually trying.
The point: if you want to change, you have to choose to change and that comes with uncomfortable action. You might fall, you could fail but if you keep making excuses and never go for it then…. You’ll never grow.
Breaking Tension
There’s an apparent tension that exists between living the present and planning for the future.
However, these things are not mutually exclusive and the most simple way to relieve this tension is to…
Fall in love with the process of doing things that make the future better (that make you better).
It’s Still Choosing
Not making a choice is still making a choice.
We all have the power to change but many of us are afraid to leave the familiar discomfort for the uncertain discomfort that accompanies what we say that we want.
The most dangerous place to be is uncomfortable but not uncomfortable enough to change.

Here’s a quote that I’ve been sitting with in recent weeks.
“Successful salesman, authors, executives and workmen of every sort need patience. The great liability of youth is not inexperience but impatience.”
