Despite creating more room in the calendar, it just keeps getting filled up. However, I’ve found a rare window of time that doesn’t need filling and I’m feeling called to dump some thoughts as of late. This one will be raw (unedited) and I hope it finds you where you need it most.

Some Thoughts
Build a life that doesn’t need a resolution 365 days from now.
To win is not to get something, it’s to become someone. It’s not about the outcome, it’s about who we become. Detach from the external, tap into the internal – potential lives within.
The same qualities that help us excel can be the same ones that break us down when unchecked. In other words – the extremes can be a dangerous place. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.
The quality of our lives is determined (in large part) by the quality of our questions. Here’s one I’ve been asking as of late: wow would you live different if ego was removed from the equation?
The art of becoming is about making hard decisions with grace while stuck in between who we once were and who we hope to be. This process requires letting go of those who are no longer moving in the same direction. That’s HARD but we can’t have it all – growth isn’t comfortable.
You won’t stumble across opportunities standing still. You don’t need a specific destination in order to begin – just pick a general direction. You don’t need to make the perfect move, just make a move.
Stop comparing your chapter X to someone else’s chapter Y.
Life is a lot like walking through the dark with a lantern. Each step will help light the next but we can’t see more than one step at a time. If you’re unsure what direction to move, pick one and see what see what gets lit up. If you don’t feel excited to go, trust that action precedes inspiration (because it does).
In order to move fast, we FIRST need to find firm footing (hat goes for running and for life). Before going somewhere we need to decide who we are (and be prepared to stand firm in that). There’s no point in moving fast if you’re going in the wrong direction, stepping on bad ground. Focus on the footing, THEN move fast(er).
Be consistent, not impressive. Don’t let what others think you “should” be doing prevent you from pursuing what you could be doing. Show up for the person who you want to become, not the one who the world tells you to be.
This one is inspired from a conversation with my client and good friend, Chris Cosme. The pursuit of personal excellence is an overt act of rebellion against what’s easiest, what’s comfortable and what’s popular (normal). If you want to be resilient, you need to push into resistance. If you want to explore uncharted waters, you need to swim against the current. If you want to tap into potential, you need to endure pain. It’s not easy, but it will be worth it.
Progress isn’t linear AND it takes persistence to learn that lesson. When it doesn’t seem to be working, remember that rivers cut through rock not because of power but because of persistence. Keep going.
Stop wasting time attempting to avoid or erase fear. Instead, channel that energy into having the courage to coexist with fear. Stop attempting to find yourself (there’s nothing to find). Instead, channel that energy into creating the best version of yourself. Stop caring so much about what you “should” be doing based on who you think the world wants you to be. Instead, channel that energy into becoming what you could become. Stop avoiding the hard things (you can’t outrun the storm). Instead, realize that it can be hard now or hard(er) later. Stop waiting for the perfect time to start. Instead, start now and make this moment perfect (understanding that “ready” is a decision, not a feeling).

“There is neither happiness nor unhappiness in this world; there is merely the comparison of one state to the other. Only a man who has felt ultimate despair is capable of feeling ultimate bliss.”
